Steps to Becoming a Driving Instructor

Driving Instructor Training Steps and Requirements

Part 1 Exam: - multiple choice computer based exam

Hazard perception test – computer based.

Full theory training and support for this element in our training room, we include all training materials, text books and disc’s needed.  Use out training computer at anytime to aid your training.

Part 2 Exam: - driving exam which lasts 1 hour with the DSA.

Full training is provided to ensure you are more than ready to deal with this exam as the standard you are expected to reach is high.

 

We usually run Part 1 and 2 Training simultaneously as there are benefits to be made from this or they can be run independently of each other.

We provide a minimum of 20 hours training which is in car to cover required DSA syllabus.

You will be tested on a variety of road environments and your manoeuvring ability.

Our trainers have many years experience in training qualified drivers to Part 2 standard and in defensive/fleet methods

Part 3 Exam: - teaching ability will be tested with the examiner, this exam will again last 1 hour, you will be tested on 2 objectives at 2 different pupil levels.

We will prepare you fully for the exam as well as all aspects of being a Driving Instructor and dealing with the needs of real pupils.

We will provide a minimum of 40 hours training to ensure we have covered the full training syllabus.

A combination of in car practical training and theory training is provided to cover all aspects relating to being a Driving Instructor.

Full Amber lesson plan book will be provided as well as all necessary materials to run a driving school.

DSA Trainee Licence Sponsorship (optional)

This licence can be taken out by yourself under our sponsorship once the 40 hours of Part 3 Training are completed, this allows you to gain valuable pupil experience, the Trainee licence also allows you to charge pupils and lasts for a 6 month period and can aid you in passing the Part 3 Exam.

NVQ Driving Instruction Level 3

We are able to offer an extra qualification which will run with the instructor training course and completed by qualification.

 

Eligibility – hold a full UK Licence for 4 years (points taken into consideration) you can start your training just prior to this period.

Qualification rates: - in 2008 we achieved a qualification rate of 90% as opposed to national rate which remains low.
